Once upon a time. Once upon a time, when the sieve was in the hay, when the birds were town criers, when the cats were barbers, a smart boy named Keloğlan lived happily with his mother in a distant land. The house where Keloğlan and his mother lived was very old and in a dilapidated state. One day, Keloğlan's mother said to Keloğlan;

-My bald son, my bald son, my son who is free to love. Take this gold and sell it at the market, let's repair our house before it collapses on us." Keloğlan took the gold he inherited from his mother and father and set off. He went a short way, a long way, over hills and valleys. He came across a crowd on the road. When he entered the crowd, he saw the villagers beating a cat. He intervened immediately and said;

-"Aghas, gentlemen, what do you want from this cat? Take some gold and leave this poor cat alone." Keloglan saved the cat by giving him a few gold coins and continued on his way. He went a short way, a long way, over hills and valleys. Another crowd gathered and they were beating a dog with a stick. Keloglan gave them a few gold coins and saved the dog from them, and the cat, dog and Keloglan continued on their way together.

As Keloglan approached the city, he came across another group, forest guards were beating a snake with a stick. Keloglan felt sorry for the snake and gave him a few gold coins and saved the snake.

The snake showed his gratitude to Keloglan by saying;

- “Keloğlan, I am the child of the sultan of snakes, I had a falling out with my father, I left the palace. While I was sleeping in the hollow of a tree at night, the guards caught me, if it weren’t for you, they would have almost killed me. I would be very happy if you would take me to my father’s palace.” B

Keloğlan, the cat, the dog and the snake went to the palace of the snake sultan together. The snake prince told the snake sultan what had happened. The snake sultan wanted to thank Keloğlan for this kindness and reward him.

The snake sultan turned to Keloğlan and said;

-"Good-hearted Keloğlan, ask me for whatever you wish." At that moment, the snake prince whispered into Keloğlan's ear and told him to ask for the seal under his father's tongue.

Keloğlan said:

-"I want your magic seal from you."

The snake sultan said:

-"The seal is my most precious possession. But since you saved the life of my only son, who is more precious than him, I will give you that seal and he presents the seal to Keloğlan. He tells him to take care of the magic seal and that he can have it by telling it anything he wants.

Keloğlan takes his cat and dog with him and puts the seal in his pocket and returns home.

Keloğlan's mother gets angry at her son who returned with a cat and dog and says, Keloğlan, did I give you that gold so that you could buy a cat and a dog? Our house will collapse on us, what did you do?

Keloğlan;

- "Mom, mom, my dear mom, don't bother yourself with anything, go and ask me for the sultan's daughter." said.

Keloğlan's mother;

- "My bald son, my bald son, my son who is free to love. Who are we, who would take the sultan's daughter? Would the sultan ever give his daughter to someone as poor as us?" said. No matter what his mother said, would Keloğlan listen to this? His poor mother went and asked for the sultan's daughter so as not to break her only son's heart.

The Sultan:

-"My daughter is used to living in palaces, if you can have one built just like ours, I will give my daughter to you." His mother came and explained the Sultan's conditions to her son.

Keloglan;

-"Is it just a palace?" he said. I will build the palace right away, I will take the Sultan's daughter, he said. He took the seal out of his pocket and ordered him to build a palace right away. That night, all the snakes gathered and built a huge palace. The Sultan was very surprised when he saw the palace, he said that words only come out of the mouth once and gave his daughter to Keloglan.

Keloglan married the Sultan's daughter in a wedding that lasted forty days and forty nights. He hid the seal in a vase. One day, Keloglan went to the market, and at that time, someone who knew that the magic seal was in Keloglan's house came to his house disguised as a fabric seller and knocked on the door. Keloğlan's wife said that she had no money and could not buy anything. The seller said that I do not want money, if you like the fabric and give me a few pieces of old furniture in the house I will accept it. Keloğlan's wife gives the seller a few pieces of furniture in the house and the vase with the seal hidden in it in return for the clothes she has chosen. The seller takes the seal and immediately leaves and goes to the other side of the river. The seller orders the seal and moves Keloğlan's palace to the other side of the river. When the Sultan learns that Keloğlan's palace is lost, he takes his daughter from Keloğlan. Keloğlan returns to his old poor life.

Keloğlan, the cat and the dog were left alone, while Keloğlan was thinking hard.

The cat said;

-“We have to do something, if we could swim across the river I could save the seal.”

The dog said;

-“I know how to swim, we can take you on my back and cross the river together.” They crossed the river together and reached the vendor’s house. The cat, seeing that the man’s window was open, immediately climbed the tree and entered the man’s room from there. It silently approached the man and rubbed its tail on the vendor’s nose. The man sneezed when his nose itched and the seal flew out from under his tongue. The cat immediately grabbed the seal and jumped out of the window. While crossing the river on the dog’s back, the seal fell out of the cat’s mouth and entered the mouth of a fish. This time the dog said, I will handle this. Keloğlan, the cat and the dog went to the fish market. The dog smelled all the fish one by one and found the fish that had swallowed the seal. Keloğlan bought that fish and returned home.

Keloğlan ordered the seal, and was reunited with his palace and the sultan's daughter.

Keloğlan lived happily ever after with his wife, mother, cat and dog.

Bir varmış, bir yokmuş. Evvel zaman içinde, kalbur saman içinde, kuşlar tellal iken, kediler berber iken, uzak diyarlarda Keloğlan adında zeki bir çocuk annesiyle beraber mutlu mesut yaşarmış. Keloğlan ve annesinin yaşadığı ev çok eski ve harap durumdaymış. Günlerden bir gün, Keloğlan’ın annesi Keloğlan’a şöyle demiş;

-Kel oğlum keleş oğlum, sevmesi beleş oğlum. Al şu altınları götür pazarda sat, evimiz başımıza yıkılmadan onaralım.” demiş..

Keloğlan annesinden babadan kalan altınlarını almış, yola koyulmuş. Az gitmiş, uz gitmiş, dere tepe düz gitmiş. Yolda bir kalabalığa rastlamış. Kalabalığın içine girince köylülerin bir kediyi dövdüğünü görmüş. Hemen durumda müdahale ederek;

-“Ağalar, beyler ne istiyorsunuz bu kediden? Alın size biraz altın şu zavallı kediyi bırakın.” demiş.

Keloğlan birkaç altın vererek kediyi kurtarmış ve yoluna devam etmiş. Az gitmiş, uz gitmiş dere tepe düz gitmiş. Yine bir kalabalık toplanıp bir köpeği sopayla dövüyorlarmış. Keloğlan, birkaç altın onlara vererek köpeği de onların elinden kurtararak, kedi, köpek ve Keloğlan birlikte yol almaya devam etmişler.

Keloğlan, kente yaklaştığı esnada başka bir toplulukla karşılaşır, orman bekçileri bir yılanı sopayla dövüyorlarmış. Keloğlan, yılanın durumuna da acıyarak birkaç altın verip, yılanı da kurtarır.

Yılan, Keloğlan’a karşı minnettarlığını belirtmek için;

– “Keloğlan, ben yılanlar padişahının çocuğuyum, Babam ile küstük, ben saraydan ayrıldım. Gece bir ağacın kavuğunda uyurken bekçiler beni yakaladı, sen olmasaydın az kalsın beni öldüreceklerdi. Beni babamın sarayına götürürsen çok mutlu olurum.” demiş. B

Keloğlan, kedi, köpek ve yılan birlikte yılanlar padişahının sarayına gitmişler. Şehzade yılan, olan biteni yılanlar padişahına anlatmış. Yılanlar Padişahı, Keloğlan’ın bu iyiliği için ona teşekkür edip, mükafatlandırmak istemiş.

Yılanlar Padişahı Keloğlan’a dönerek;

-“İyi kalpli Keloğlan, dile benden ne dilersen.” demiş. O esnada Şehzade yılan, Keloğlan`ın kulağına fısıldayarak, babasının dilinin altındaki mührü istemesini söylemiş.

Keloğlan:

-“Sizden sihirli mührünüzü istiyorum.” demiş.

Yılanlar Padişahı:

-“Mühür benim en kıymetli varlığımdır. Ama ondan daha kıymetli olan biricik oğlumun hayatını kurtardığın için sana o mührü vereceğim der ve mührü Keloğlan’a takdim eder. Sihirli mühre sahip çıkmasını ve dilediği her şeyi mühre söyleyerek sahip olabileceğini söyler.

Keloğlan, kedi ve köpeğini yanına alıp, mührü de cebine koyar evine döner.

Keloğlan’ın annesi, yanına bir kedi ve köpek alıp dönen oğluna kızarak, Keloğlan o altınları ben sana kedi ve köpek al diye mi verdim? Evimiz başımıza yıkılacak, senin yaptığın olacak iş mi? demiş.

Keloğlan;

– “Anam anam canım anam, sen canını hiçbir şeye sıkma, git bana padişahın kızını iste.” demiş.

Keloğlan’ın annesi;

-” Kel oğlum, keleş oğlum, sevmesi beleş oğlum. Biz kim, padişahın kızını almak kim? Hiç padişah kızını bizim gibi fakir birine verir mi?” demiş. Annesi ne demişse de Keloğlan bu hiç dinler mi? Zavallı annesi biricik oğlunun gönlünü kırmamak için gitmiş padişahın kızını istemiş.

Padişah:

-” Benim kızım saraylarda yaşamaya alışmış, bizim sarayın aynısından bir tane yaptırabilirseniz size kızımı veririm.” demiş. Annesi gelip padişahın şartlarını oğluna anlatmış.

Keloğlan;

-“Alt tarafı bir saray mı? demiş. Hemencecik kuruveririm sarayı, alırım padişahın kızını demiş. Cebinden mührü çıkarıp hemen bir saray yapmasını emretmiş. O gece bütün yılanlar toplanmış, kocaman bir saray inşa etmişler. Padişah, sarayı görünce çok şaşırmış, söz ağızdan bir defa çıkar demiş ve kızını Keloğlan’a vermiş.

Keloğlan, padişahın kızıyla kırk gün kırk gece süren bir düğünle evlenmiş. Mührü de bir vazonun içine saklamış. Günlerden bir gün, Keloğlan çarşıya gitmiş, o sırada sihirli mührün Keloğlan’ın evinde olduğunu bilen birisi, kumaş satıcısı kılığında evine gelmiş, kapıyı çalmış. Keloğlan’ın karısı, hiç parası olmadığını söyleyerek bir şey alamayacağını söylemiş. Satıcı, para istemem, sen kumaşı beğen evdeki eski eşyalardan birkaç parça versen kabulüm demiş. Keloğlan’ın karısı seçtiği elbiselere karşılık evde bulunan birkaç parça eşyayı ve içinde mühür saklı olan vazoyu da getirip satıcıya verir. Satıcı mührü aldığı gibi hemen oradan uzaklaşır, nehrin öbür tarafına geçer. Satıcı, mühre emreder ve Keloğlan’ın sarayını nehrin öbür tarafına taşır. Padişah, Keloğlan’ın sarayının kaybolduğunu öğrenince kızını da Keloğlan’dan alır. Keloğlan yine o eski fakir yaşantısına döner.

Keloğlan, kedi ve köpek yalnız kalırlar, bu sırada Keloğlan kara kara düşünüyormuş.

Kedi;

-“Bir şeyler yapmalıyız, nehri yüzerek geçebilseydik ben mührü kurtarabilirim.” demiş.

Köpek:

-“Ben yüzmeyi biliyorum, seni sırtıma alıp beraber nehri geçebiliriz.” demiş. Beraber nehri geçerek satıcının evine varmışlar. Adamın penceresinin açık olduğunu gören kedi, hemen ağaca tırmanıvermiş, oradan da adamın odasına girmiş. Sessizce adamın yanına yaklaşıp kuyruğunu satıcının burnuna sürtmüş. Burnu kaşınan adam hapşırmış ve mührü dilinin altından fırlamış. Kedi hemen mührü kapıp pencereden atlamış. Köpeğin sırtında tam nehri geçerken mühür kedinin ağzından düşmüş, bir balığın ağzına girmiş. Bu defa köpek bu işi ben hallederim demiş. Keloğlan, kedi ve köpek balık pazarına gitmişler. Köpek, tek tek tüm balıkları koklamış, mührü yutan balığı bulmuş. Keloğlan, o balığı satın alıp eve dönmüş.

Keloğlan mühre emretmiş, yeniden sarayına ve padişahın kızına kavuşmuş.

Keloğlan, karısı, anası ve kediyle köpeğiyle bir ömür mutlu mesut yaşamış.
